IBAN (International Bank Account Code)

The IBAN is the international identification number for bank accounts, normalized by the European Committee for Standardization Basic through ISO13616 standards and EBS204 and its purpose is to facilitate international transactions ensuring accuracy and speeding up transactions. All financial institutions are obliged to accept the IBAN in the operations of their clients.



IBAN structure is formed in Spain by 24 characters, in other countries can use up to 34:
• First two characters identifying the country of the account, according to ISO3166 standard. In the case of Spain, ES.

• Two characters: check digits are calculated according to the above standard to validate the IBAN.

• The remaining twenty characters correspond to the Customer Account Code has been used and identify the financial institution (4 digits), Office of the bill (4 digits), control digits (2 digits) and Account Number (10 digits .)
