Cute Leotards With Rhinestones

San Ceclio, Patron of Granada

CECILIO

From the Latin root Caecus , as diminutive caéculus, come the Roman names Cecil and Cecilia, who then turned to Christianity. While Roman was a name that was used more in male than in female, but over a Christian name, such was the prestige of the martyr Santa Cecilia, who became highly valued him on behalf of, being in the background males.

San Cecilio

was the first bishop of Granada, when under Roman rule, was still known Illiberis . It was one of the tradition called "apostolic men" sent to Spain by St. Peter and St. Paul to preach the gospel. The other six are: Torcuato, Second, Indalecio, Ctesiphon, and Hesychius Eufrasio. The life of all is hidden behind the veils of legend transmitted orally. We know for a fact that was bishop of San Cecilio Illiberis , who wrote some treaties for the instruction of the faithful and who suffered martyrdom during the reign of Nero, allegedly burned on Mount Illipulitano. But the long Arab rule destroyed all traces of Christianity. Granada was under the Saracens almost eight hundred years, not enough to lose the memory and tradition, but not to get any trace of documents and relics. San Cecilio of Granada is standard, and his feast is celebrated on 1 February.
